17th Annual Peace Service
Non-Violence: A Scriptural Call to Love
Bishop Thomas Gumbleton – Keynote Speaker
On the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the assassination of the beloved St. Oscar Romero, Archbishop of El Salvador in Central America, we in Kalamazoo are blessed to have Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Detroit, to address us on “Non-Violence: A Scriptural Call to Love,” at the Interfaith Coalition’s Annual Peace Prayer Service.
Bishop Gumbleton is the founding president of the Pax Christi USA and one of the founders of the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights as well as a long time non-violence and peace activist. He also publishes his weekly homily from St. Leo’s Church in the National Catholic Reporter: they are under the heading of the “Peace Pulpit.”
Please plan to join us for this Interfaith Celebration.
